Nursery

Welcome to Our Lady and St Philomena’s Catholic Primary School – and especially to our Nursery!

Teacher Name: Mrs O’Brien

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to our school community. For many of our families, this marks the beginning of an exciting new journey as your child starts to explore the world more independently.

This term, we will enjoy a wide range of fun and engaging activities — learning new things, listening to wonderful stories, and singing both new songs and some well-loved favourites. We're led by the children's own interests day to day, but each half-term we follow a broader theme. We begin the year thinking about ourselves – exploring our bodies, our senses, our feelings, our families, and our school.

We look forward to a term of learning, laughter, and new beginnings together.

Class Routines:

Every day in Nursery is full of new adventures, so your child really just needs to bring themselves — ready to play, learn and have fun!

Nursery hours are 8.45am to 11.45am, every day.

Please make sure everything your child brings in is labelled with their name – jumpers, coats, water bottles, all of it!

If they wish, children may bring a bottle of water, no juice or flavoured water. We also ask that each child has a spare set of clothes left in class, as our play and exploration can sometimes get a little messy or wet.

Snack money is £1 per week and can be paid either weekly or in advance for the half-term. Our Nursery Library books are changed every Friday, so please remember to send your child’s book in on that day.

We use Class Dojo to share photographs and updates about the exciting things we’ve been doing in Nursery. We aim to post each week, including a link to the story we’ve been enjoying at snack time and our Rhyme of the Week.

We love to see what the children are getting up to at home too! We encourage you to share photographs of your family fun and adventures via Class Dojo, so your child can tell us all about them during carpet time.
