    Welcome to Reception!

    This is a special and important year as your child begins their primary school journey. Our classroom is a warm, welcoming, and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to explore, play, and learn with confidence, curiosity, and independence.

    Our days are filled with fun, creativity, and hands-on learning experiences that support each child’s development across all areas—from early reading, writing, and number work to social skills and confidence building. We work in close partnership with parents and carers to ensure every child feels happy, valued, and ready to shine.

    Please make sure you are connected to our Class Dojo page, where we will share regular updates, photos, and news on what your child is up to!

    Class Routines

    • P.E. Day (Monday): Children should come to school wearing their full P.E. kit, a tracksuit over the top, and black velcro pumps. Please ensure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

    • Water Bottles: Please send a water bottle with your child every day (plain water only—no juice or flavoured water allowed).

    Homework & Reading

    • Phonics: Updates on the letter sounds taught each week will be shared via Class Dojo and / or QR codes so you can support learning at home.

    • Lending Library: Our library will be up and running soon for children to bring home books to share and enjoy with family members.

     

    Key Dates: Autumn 1 Transition

    • 2nd – 4th September: Parent transition meetings

    • 7th – 9th September: Children attend part-time

    • 10th – 11th September: Children stay for lunch

    • Monday 14th September: Children attend full-time (unless an extended transition was agreed upon during your parent meeting)
