Teacher Name: Mrs Urquhart
Teaching Assistant: Miss Benson
Miss Benson and I are looking forward to an exciting Autumn term! We cannot wait to hit the ground running and start learning together.
We're anticipating helping Year 3 learn about gymnastics, similarities between animals and humans, as well as exploring how God created the Earth!

Our PE days are Thursday and Friday.
Please bring a water bottle to school which is stored in our class tray.
Please label any items your child brings to school to reduce the chances of items being lost.

We want Year 3 to grow into a class of Study Bugs, so we have additional tasks they can complete to support them on their learning journey listed below.
Homework will be given on a Monday to be returned on Friday. We would love it if you and your child would read every night when possible. Reading books and reading records are checked and changed weekly, most often on a Thursday. We would love to see how your child is getting on with their reading at home, so please get those reading records filled!
If you would like to support your child with their multiplication facts, they can use TT Rock Stars at home.
We are using Letterjoin to support children with their handwriting which can be accessed using the below link: www.letterjoin.co.uk
We are very lucky to have three Prize Puppies in Year 3. These are awarded to children who have worked exceptionally hard on their handwriting, reading or multiplication facts. If you are lucky enough that Prize Puppy goes home with your child on a Friday, please return them to school on the following Monday. If you have any adventures with Prize Puppy and would like school to see them, please tag us on Instagram @ourladyandstphilomenas .

Key Dates:
Wednesday 2nd September – Children return to school
National Year of Reading:

2026 is the National Year of Reading and in Year 3 we are going ALL IN. We want to use pupils’ passions like football, music, gaming, nature, fashion, anything – as the spark that brings reading to life. We have already hosted a book fair and we're looking forward to hearing incredible stories, fantastic poems and learning new facts about our world.
