Thank you to those considerate pupils who have helped to make our school a more positive environment this week.
Some of our Dojo Champions are winning for the third or fourth time! Well done.

Well done to the Dojo Champions this week who are obviously building positive relationships in school with their peers and adults.
We are so pleased at the number of children who won certificates this week for demonstrating resilience in their learning.
Week Commencing 9 January 2023
Thank you to our Certificate winners and Dojo Champions for the positive contributions that you have made to building better relationships in our school this week.
As the Autumn Term comes to an end we have lots to celebrate.
The winners of the 100% attendance raffle were chosen (well done to all those pupils who achieved 100% attendance this half-term.
Year 5 won the competition for the best class attendance: beating Year 6 by 0.1%. What a close run race!
The last certificate winners before we break up for Christmas were celebrated at assembly:
The final Dojo Champions of the year were announced:
Well done to the recipients of the Golden Letters: thank you for your positive contributions to school life this half-term.
Reading Advent Calendar
Thank you to Mrs Sheriff and the Big Little Library for our Reading Advent Calendar.
Two of our School Councillors opened the present to find 24 books inside - one leading up from the 1st to the 24th of December.
Children loved opening each book and are looking forward to sharing them.
School Council "Respect" Poster Winners
We can reveal the winners of the poster competition. We say winners because the School Council found it difficult to separate these two. Thank you to everyone who entered. The winning posters will be copied, laminated and displayed in all classes.
Remember the message - respect adults in school and respect each other.
Week Commencing 5/12/22
Well done to our certificate winners and our Dojo Champions this week and thank you all for making such positive contributions to our school.
25 November 2022
Well done to all the pupils who have been recognised this week as certificate winners because of the positive contributions that they have made to our school.
Thank you all for your wonderful examples.
Dojo Champions
Well done to all those pupils who have shone all week as star pupils.
11 November 2022
We are so proud of our Dojo Champions and certificate winners this week: some won for being considerate: others for taking responsibility for their learning: others for engaging more positively.
A U Rtistic
Welcome back to our school and the participants had a most enjoyable time at the Art Therapy session. We are looking forward to future sessions.
Welcome Back Mass 9 September 2022
Thank you Fr John and the Parish community for welcoming us at Mass this morning: it was a lovely service.
As events panned out this week, with the sudden passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, it also gave us an opportunity for the children and the wider parish community to gather together, pray for and give thanks for the Queen.
May she rest in peace.
Hello all,
It has been wonderful to have our assemblies back in the hall again after the restrictions of the pandemic. I missed us all gathering together to pray, worship, sing and celebrate together and I am so looking forward to Monday and Friday assemblies again in the Hall.
Lunchtime Shared Reading
It has been so nice this week sharing books with each other in the shade of the trees towards the end of lunchtime.
A time for calm:
A time for sharing:
A time for enjoying books together:
And the whole school taking part and enjoying it:
Mental Health Awareness Week May 22
What a fun-packed and meaningful week we have had from 9 - 13 May to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and looking after ourselves mentally as well as physically.
On Monday, Reception had great fun exercising with Balance-Ability on their bikes:
Tuesday, representatives from our school spent time with some Senior Citizens to tackle the issue of loneliness
Wednesday, KS1 and Y3 took part in the What's Up Alfie drama workshop focusing on wellbeing;
Thursday was messy painting led by A U Rtistic:
and Friday was Yoga Bears for Nursery, Reception and Year 1.
LifeSavers
Our fantastic Cashiers ran another successful LifeSavers Club this week.
We learned that some people are saving up to set up a credit card when they move to secondary school; someone wants to go on a clothes-shopping spending spree when they have enough saved up; and others are just saving for a rainy day!
Yoga Bears
Our EYFS and KS1 pupils loved their sessions with Yoga Bears this week. They can't wait for the next one.
Art Therapy
Art Therapy was a massive success this week. Check out the brilliant video on twitter:
Week Commencing 28/2/22
This has been such a busy (but very rewarding) week in school this week!
First of all, Wednesday was Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. Thank you Fr John for coming in to school to lead us in prayer and give us our ashes.
Wednesday was also the day when As Creatives visited us to work with each class on a poetry performance workshop
and on Thursday we saw some brilliant outfits to celebrate World Book Day!
Year 5/6 Breakfast Morning
Thank you to all the parents, children, governors and staff who joined us for the Year 5/6 breakfast morning on 18/2/22. It was wonderful to be able to chat and have breakfast together and reflect on another successful half-term.
Week Commencing 7/2/22 - Mental Health and Wellbeing Week
It has been a fantastic week in school and thank you to Mrs Dwyer for organising the activities such as Yoga, Messy Art and Dress to express. They have all been very enjoyable activities and so many pupils have expressed their enjoyment and gratitude for them.
What has been even more rewarding about this week for us as staff is that it has encouraged some pupils to come forward and talk to staff about concerns and anxieties that they have. There will always be an adult in school willing to listen and offer support if anything about school is worrying you. Remember that asking for help and discussing problems is a fantastic Coping strategy (one of our 7Cs).
Week Commencing 31/1/22
Well done Emily in Year 2 and Sophie in Year 6 on your recent sporting achievements.
Thank you for bringing your trophy for running and certificates for Karate to assembly to share with us.
Gardening Club
One of my favourite images of the week has to be the children from Years 3 and 4 enjoying themselves so much n the open air as they launched Gardening Club.
Not only are you getting fresh air and learning all about gardening from our resident expert, Miss Adshead, but you are all helping to make the school environment look like a much nicer area.
Thank you!
Holocaust Memorial Day
A representative group of pupils gathered in the main corridor at the start of the day on 27th January to remember and pray for those who suffered in the Holocaust.
Loving God, we come to you with heavy hearts, remembering the six million Jewish souls murdered during the Holocaust.
In the horrors of that history, when so many groups were targeted because of their identity, and in genocides which followed, we recognise destructive prejudices that drive people apart.
Forgive us when we give space to fear, negativity and hatred of others, simply because they are different from us.
In the light of God, we see everyone as equally precious manifestations of the Divine, and can know the courage to face the darkness.
Through our prayers and actions, help us to stand together with those who are suffering, so that light may banish all darkness, love will prevail over hate and good will triumph over evil.
Amen
LifeSavers
LifeSavers is back up and running in 2022. It was lovely to see members making deposits and planning ways to use their money in the future. Some people are saving up for their Summer holidays.
Please see our Christmas Nativity 2021.

Have a Happy Holy Christmas Everyone.
Thank you to Miss Lynsey, Miss Nikki and Miss Julie for a wonderful Christmas dinner.
Our Choir were sharing their wonderful talents again entertaining Senior Citizens from our Community at the Russell Rooms recently. They were very much appreciated. Thank you Choir and thank you Miss Williams.
Week beginning 6/12/21 was such a good one:
St Nicholas called in on us;
So did Santa and his helpers;
and the rehearsals and performances for the virtual Nativity went very well (even the animal performers).
Choir
We were all so proud of our choir at the Golden Jubilee mass of the church on Sunday 5 December. You sang absolutely beautifully and brought a tear to many an eye. So many parishioners approached staff at the end of the mass to say thank you for the choir. So choir (and Miss Williams) a big thank you from the church community.
LifeSavers
Thank you to our Cashiers who did a brilliant job at the re-opening of LifeSavers Club today. It was great to see that 6 pupils turned up to (re)start their savings journey. Having spoken to these pupils, they realise the importance of saving money for when we need it.
LifeSavers
Our LifeSavers Club Cashiers have been working hard to get new members' passbooks ready for the relaunch of the club next Thursday (25/11/21)
Play Leaders
It was great to see our fully trained-up Play Leaders beginning their duties today. It was a very enjoyable lunchtime with the Year 5 Play Leaders leading games on both the Infant and Junior areas of the yard.
Chester Zoo November 2021
What a fantastic day we had at Chester Zoo today!
The children absolutely loved it - so did the adults but they are all very tired after all that walking!
Thank you so much to the volunteer supervisors who gave up their time to make the day possible: we literally could not have done it without you.
As well as having an educational, physically challenging and great entertainment day, it was so lovely to hear the positive comments from other visitors at the zoo who congratulated several members of staff on what a well-mannered and well-behaved cohort of children we have.
Years 1 and 2 Family Breakfast
What a great success our first Breakfast Morning for sometime was! It was so enjoyable for pupils, family members, governors and staff to share breakfast together and have a "catch-up."
So many links were made when we got chatting (a governor and a parent recognised each other from attending school together as children, another of the governors and a parent realised that they had a link from Zimbabwe and an ex-governor and a parent discovered that their families came from the same area of Ukraine - what a small world).
Well done to all of our pupils from Years 1 -6 for taking part in the Speak Out Stay Safe programme in October 2021.
We were all so proud of our football team this week. Not only did they come third in the tournament, but they received so many comments about how well-behaved and sporting they were. Thank you for representing our school so well.
Young Minds - Wear Yellow Day
It was really encouraging to see so many of our pupils and staff wearing yellow today to show their solidarity with young people who need support. Remember, you are not alone if you feel you need support with your mental health.
Speak to any adult in school and we will help you all we can.
Thank you to all our children who were excellent during our Fire Drill today (6/10/21).
We managed to evacuate the building in 50 seconds.
Furthermore, all registers had been taken and everyone was accounted for in 1 minute and 32 seconds.
Well done everybody on being so sensible and helping to keep each other safe.
Thank you to the pupils for showing their appreciation of the staff in school on World Teachers Day!
WOW! What a day Wednesday 29th September was!
A massive well done to Years 1, 2, 4 & 5 !
100% attendance today #attendancematters
Keep it up - that's brilliant.
Well done to all our pupils who helped to achieve the world record!
