It has been a very challenging week in terms of attendance this week with only one class hitting the 97% target.  We seem to have had a lot of children suffering from illness this week, but please do consider if your child is still well enough to come to school even though they may feel under the weather.  We will look after them and make them comfortable: as long as they are not infectious in any way and not so ill that they can’t participate in most lessons.

Well done Year 5 – thank you for breaking the 97% barrier!  It has been a difficult week to achieve this, so it is even more of a fantastic achievement.

These colour codings also apply to individual pupils.  All pupils should aim for 100% but to be 97% or above in their attendance is very good.  Please support us in getting your child to school as regularly as possible and on time.

Please see the announcement below which was issued to school on 13 May 2021

Summer term attendance expectations for schools

School attendance continues to be mandatory for all pupils and the usual rules on school attendance apply. This includes parents’ duty to ensure their child regularly attends school, and schools’ and local authorities’ ability to issue sanctions, including fixed penalty notices, for poor attendance.

We expect schools and local authorities to continue to communicate clear expectations around attendance to families, identify pupils at risk of disengagement and develop plans to re-engage them.

As restrictions begin to lift, we know some families may be looking to take holidays during term time. As usual, parents should plan their holidays around school breaks and avoid seeking permission to take their children out of school on holiday.
