Reading
Here at Our Lady and St Philomena's Catholic Primary School, we begin the reading journey with Read Write Inc decodable books for children to practise recognition of the sounds that they have learnt. We also employ the 'Big Cat' reading scheme, with pupils who have completed the RWI programme. They then progress onto 'real' books of their own choice, that they can choose either from their class library, or our school's recently constructed library, which has been hugely successful in improving our pupils reading ability and reading progress.

Spelling
Here at Our Lady and St Philomena's Catholic Primary School, we employ the Liverpool spelling scheme to help pupils progress in their spelling capacity.
Maths
Here at Our Lady and St Philomena's Catholic Primary School, we follow Power Maths to support our pupils in improving their mathematical ability, while also actively encouraging our pupils to practice the mathematical skills taught in their lessons in the wider world around them. We also use White Rose Hub to embed the Mastery Approach.
